Sit -

Sit will be used for when you are greeting guest, or to be calm or not to jump. Get dog's atttention, once dog is looking at you say the command word "sit", you can gently push on the hind end. Once the dog sits, then reward them with a treat.

Down -

This one would be to settle your dog down if they are being hyper or rowdy. Have your dog sit or stand. Then give the command down, with treat in hand, take your hand down to the ground, the dog should follow your hand to the ground. Once they are down then reward with treat.

Wait -

For this one you will be having them wait for what ever you want to wait before they can do the activity. For instants you want the dog to wait before they got thru the door. You tell them to wait (wether it be standing or sitting), you go thru the door then tell them to proceed. Make sure that you reward with treat after each time the dog does it correctly

Come -

On this one you can use it in conjuction with Wait command. Once you tell them to wait, you walk thru the door and then tell them to come. Make sure that you reward with treat after each time the dog does it correctly

Here/Heal -

When you are walking away from something or someone that you are talking to, this is where you would tell the dog to either heal or here (what ever word you feel comfortable saying). Make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Leave it -

On this command, if there is something that you don't want the dog to pick up and you want them to leave it alone, you would tell the to leave it. If they leave it make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Off (example: to get off the couch or bed) -

If there is a place that you want your dog to get off of, wether a bed, couch counter etc, tell the dog off and point to the floor, once they understand that you want them off the item, make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Take it -

There could be an item that you want them to have, like a treat (other than the one that you reward with), or a toy. You tell them take it. Make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Walking on a loose lead -

When walking on a loose lead (this is more for the owner), you will hold the leash in either the right or left hand when the dog is walking next to you. This also works in conjuction with the healing. Make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Recall (comes to you and sits front when called) -

When working with this one, the dog will be sitting a certain amount of space from you, for instance to the end of you lease, you would tell your dog to stay, drop your end of the leash and tell your dog to wait, you count for a couple of second then call the dog to you. When the dog comes to you then the dog should sit in front of you at this time you can pick up the leash and make sure that you reward the dog after each time the dog does it correctly.

Conclusion

These things are important to do when training you pet. Plus the sooner you train your pet the easier it is on the both of you. Also, a dog that is trained is more likely to stay close to you and not run off into the streets or get lost somewhere. Both you and your pet will be much happier and enjoy life in the long run
